Email Case Sensitivity

Email addresses are not case sensitive in practice — Gmail, Outlook, and all major providers treat uppercase and lowercase as identical.

While RFC 5321 technically allows the local part of an email address (before the @) to be case-sensitive, in practice all major email providers treat addresses as case-insensitive. Whether you write [email protected] or [email protected], the message reaches the same inbox. This means you can safely treat email addresses as case-insensitive when storing, comparing, or validating them in your applications.
