Email address case sensitivity

Email addresses are not case sensitive; uppercase and lowercase letters are treated the same by mail servers.

The local part of an email address (before the @) is technically case sensitive per the RFC standard, but in practice most mail servers treat it as case insensitive. The domain part is always case insensitive. Therefore, sending to '[email protected]' will reach the same inbox as '[email protected]'. Users should still use consistent casing to avoid confusion, but delivery is not affected.
